Details emerge re: the secular fatwa against Canadian conservative website
OK, it looks like a non-Muslim woman was offended by "anti-Muslim" comments posted by an anti-gay-rights guy (who doesn't own the site in question, unlike the person who was served the complaint).
Got that? Then you must be Canadian.
Allegedly, these are the offending comments by some guy named Bill Whatcott, (who has a history with provincial Kangaroo Courts for "distributing flyers denoucing homosexual behaviour" for which he was fined -- $17,500!)
Here are the alleged offending statements made by Whatcott on some FreeDominion.ca thread, the ones that led to this new complaint:
03/09/06 "I defy Islamic censorship and speak about what I believe is the truth
about violent Islamism and its threat to religious liberty in Canada."
"Gentes also claims she was discriminated against [remember, she is not a Muslim] due to the appearance of the following
posts which she claims appeared at Free Dominion:"
"Probably everyone want to jail a Muslim."
"I have to ask why we are importing them here?"
"Islamic fundamentalism and its threat to Canada's religious and civil liberties."
I know, you're thinking: but Kathy, I read that stuff every day at JihadWatch and LGF. Congratulations -- you live in
the United States of Frickin' America.
Read this excellent brief history of our Star Chambers and their encroachment on what can and cannot be
said up here and your jaw will drop. (Make sure nothing offensive pops out when it does, or you could get called before one of
our Kangaroo Courts).
We have no First Amendment. We have no Second Amendment. Property rights are not protected in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
I too can't figure out why gay activists seem to be on the side of Muslims either, like those Gays for Palestine or whoever
they are you see at anti-Israeli demos. Isn't Islamic fundamentalism a threat to civil liberties?
Is it right to hold the owner of a website responsible for the comments thereon?
Anyway, Connie Wilkins of FreeDominion.ca will be on Michael Coren this Sunday at 7:30PM EST. If they take calls maybe you could phone in and express your support.
Please help spread the word about this. Even if you think all these people are goofs with crazy ideas, so what? When will it be your turn to be brought before a panel of unelected bureaucrats charged with maintaining some PC social order you don't buy into.
One way to fight this is for all of us to post Whatcott's "offending" remarks on our blogs right now, just like I did. Do the "I'm Spartacus" thing -- they can't sue us all.
Don't be a wimp. What are you waiting for?
